Mimosa Ladies Glade

Mimosa Ladies Glade

Meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at the Buff Club

Scribe – Sister Tracey Shortt

The Order of the Ladies Glade is the Ladies ‘division’ of the RAOB.  Although not officially recognized by the RAOB, it has happily existed side by side for many years, complimenting, and sometimes outdoing the work of the ‘Buffs’.

The Gosport ‘Mimosa’ Glade is part of a large Order, and meets in the club every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.  You often hear the jokes in the club about the Ladies locked in their room, mixing spells over a boiling cauldron, knitting, and playing bingo.  We are always the first to laugh, but it could not be further from the truth.  The Ladies of the Glade are always at the forefront of charitable work, in all it’s forms, whether it be raising well needed funds for it’s own projects, assisting the “Buffs” in one of their projects, or lending ‘hands on’ help wherever needed.  Without the Glades, many projects would not get off the ground, let alone succeed.
No we don’t play bingo, and no we don’t sit and knit, but we do have lots of fun and laughter.  Working for charity does not have to be boring or sad, plus twice a month you enjoy a ‘girls only’ environment, allowing you to escape from the trials and tribulations of ‘man’.
Occasionally, we receive an official visit from a Buff Lodge or the PGL, and that’s when madness prevails, and the rule book might just as well be thrown out of the window!  But who cares when the end result is extracting as much money as possible from them, to fill up our needy coffers!
We are always on the look-out for new recruits to our Order, so if you have a little time to spare, and are looking for a new outlet for your creative energies, why not give the Glades a try.  You really need just two credentials, you must be Female and enthusiastic!
